Geography Department

There are three full time Geographers in this Department under the leadership of Ms Fiona James, Curriculum Leader.

The department has three specialist rooms in the school’s new block and the subject is a popular choice at Standard Grade, Higher, and Advanced Higher. In S1 and S2 all students have 2 periods a week of the subject.

The department is currently expanding the range of courses offered. Intermediate 2 Travel and Tourism was offered for the first time in 2003/04 as was Geology Higher. For 2004/05 Intermediate 1 Travel and Tourism will be a choice for students to study over 2 years in S3 and S4.

• 5-14 Environmental Studies – People and Place (S1 and S2)
• Intermediate 1 Travel and Tourism
• Intermediate 2 Travel and Tourism
• S – Grade Geography
• Higher Geography
• Advanced Higher Geography
• Higher Geology with one student sitting Intermediate 2 Geology.

In Third Year a week long residential visit to the French Alps is offered to Standard Grade pupils.
