Physical Education Department
Kelso High School Physical Education department comprises of seven members of staff:
Mrs Carol Lesenger (Head of Curriculum PE & Sport), Mr Tom Angus, Miss J McHale, Mrs
Mary Weir, Miss M O'Brien (Active Schools Co-ordintor) and Miss D Martin (Primary)
Accommodation for PE is made up of a Games Hall, Gymnasium, outdoor basketball court, multiuse games area and council owned grass pitches for rugby, football, hockey and athletics.
In S1 to S3, the Department offers a CfE course for 2 periods per week. S2 Options are Dance Choreography and Specialised Health & Fitness. In S3 and S4, a Standard Grade PE course is offered for 3 periods per week and a core PE programme for all pupils is offered for 2 periods per week. In S5 and S6, Higher Still courses at Intermediate 2, Higher and Advanced Higher are offered.
In addition to teaching timetabled classes, the department (along with other members of staff and community coaches) offers a wide range of extra curricular activities to pupils of all ages. The main sports in the school are rugby and hockey though other clubs in table tennis, dance, football, tennis, athletics, badminton, fitness and netball are also offered
