Support for Learning Department

There are five full-time and four part-time teachers in this Department under the leadership of Ms Elaine Dyer, Principal Teacher. Accommodation comprises of 4 teaching areas, a quiet room, an IT suite and a kitchen area.

The Department offers support to pupils both by small group teaching within the Department and through supporting pupils in mainstream classes. In addition, support for staff is offered through a consultancy service aiding curriculum development and aimed at improving teaching for learning.

Aims of Our Department

• To ensure full entitlement for all pupils to high quality education within a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum so that they can reach their full potential and enhance their self-esteem.
• To educate pupils identified as having special educational needs, wherever possible alongside their peers within the normal curriculum after giving due consideration to individual needs.
• To encourage in pupils attending the Support for Learning Department, curiosity, interest and enjoyment in their education.
