Pupils attending Kelso High School in First and Second Year study 15 discrete subjects. Course content and skill development is related closely to the 5 - 14 development guidelines which provide outlines for the curriculum for the primary stages and the First and Second Years in a secondary school. A booklet giving course descriptions of each of these subjects is issued to all new pupils.
In Third and Fourth Year, pupils are required to choose 8 discrete subjects to study from a menu of 26. Most of these courses are offered at Standard Grade and are examined by the Scottish Qualifications Authority at the end of S4. A booklet describing each of the subjects offered together with advice on how to make choices is issued to all pupils entering S3.
In Fifth and Sixth year pupils are required to choose 5 subjects from a menu of 27 subjects. Most of these courses are offered at Intermediate 2, Higher and Advanced Higher level. A booklet giving descriptions of the courses and advice on how to make choices is issued to all pupils entering Fifth and Sixth Year.
Unfortunately, these booklets are too large to be available as downloads. Paper copies are available from the school office and course descriptions are available on the Department pages of this website.
