Chewing Gum

A lot of people have strong views about whether or not chewing gum should be aloud in the classroom. The arguments for chewing gum in my opinion are that it keeps your breath nice and you can’t really hear people chewing it. The arguments against it however are, people getting distracted passing pieces around and not putting it in the bin but sticking it under the table, which isn’t very pleasant. If chewing gum was made legal in the classroom I think people would stop sticking it under the table because they would know that they would not get into trouble for chewing it in the first place. There would still need to be rules like not putting excessive amounts in all at once. It would also stop people putting it under the table if there were more bins placed around all of the classrooms. It is also a positive because it will stop people sucking sweets. This is a positive because chewing gum is sugar free and therefore better for your teeth.
